Nordic Walking works your upper and lower body at the same
time, strengthening your back, legs and arms, and reducing neck and shoulder tension - all this while improving the health
of your heart and lungs. It's a great way of losing weight, or staying in shape.
Nordic Walking is one of the most beneficial and effective
exercises around. Using lightweight poles, this exercise will give you a fantastic workout with whole body
muscular activity, high heart rate response, and yet lowered rate of perceived exertion, meaning you can work at a higher
intensity for longer and with more ease than in many other types of physical exercise.
As part of an intensive Beginner's Course
or Taster session, you will learn the basic techniques of Nordic Walking using a proven and structured teaching method
(ALFA - 7 Steps), and feel the benefits the exercise has to offer. You'll also learn about, and focus on:
- Health and fitness benefits;
- Equipment and clothing;
- Range of movements (hands/feet/shoulders);
- Basic diagnonal stride technique;
- Uphill/Downhill techniques;
- Double poling variations - flat/uphill/downhill;
- Transitions;
- Tarmac surface technique;
- Games and strength exercises;
- Aerobic warm-ups and stretching.
